BRAND NEW MEATY COURSES

- We are excited to announce some great meat courses.
• Cooking and Preparing Meat - 23 June
• Mastering BBQ Cooking - 30 June
• Lishman's at The Cooking School - 18 August and 6 October
NEW PRASHAD SUNDAYS
- New dates have just been announced for our sell out Prashad courses, some of which are on a Sunday. There are 3 different menus to choose from. Have you cooked them all yet?
- Prashad 1 - Kaushy's Jeera rice, chick pea curry and mixed vegetable pakoras with puri and mint sauce. Book for 7 July and 27 October
- Prashad 2 - Baby Aubergines stuffed with a rich Peanut Massala, perfectly cooked Fluffy Rice and Khuddy Rich Yoghurt Sauce and Gujarati Banana Bhajis. Book for 12 May and 19 August
- Prashad 3 - Mixed Vegetable Handi, Coriander and Garlic Rice and demonstration of making Papodoms. Book for 9 September only
- Prashad Special Christmas menu - to be announced - Book for 11 November
Please note that the price of Prashad courses will increase after the 7 July course from £140 to £155 per person.
KITCHEN BASICS
- Take the mystery out of the kitchen with this fantastic introduction to preparing and cooking food. Running over 2 evenings in July, the course will develop knife skills, preparation of food and presentation. Perfect for anyone leaving home to go to university or college, or anyone wanting to get back to basics. Click here for more details.
ROSEMARY SHRAGER BACK AT THE COOKING SCHOOL
- Choose from 2 dates to cook with Rosemary Shrager. This time she will be spending a full day with us on the 12 April and also 16 June. Choose from a Masterclass in Sweets or a Masterclass with Duck. Tickets are just £225. Book now to avoid disappointment.
LAST CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR CAKE AND ICE IT THIS WEEKEND

- We are thrilled to announce that Allison from Proper Maid Cakes will be joining Matthew for our cake baking course on 11 February. and there is still time to book. Alison will be demonstrating some of her award winning cakes, along with Principal Chef Tutor Matthew Benson-Smith. Allison will be showing you how to make sticky ginger cake finished with fudge, lemon and poppy drizzle cake with homemade lemon curd a courgette and lime cake and a Genoese sponge with jam. - We have now lowered the price of our Canape course to just £95 for a full day. - saving you £45 per person. Learn how to make fantastic bite-sized treats for dinner parties, weddings or just a posh night in! Typical dishes will include Beetroot marinated halibut with wasabi, quick miniature cheese croissants and miniature Yorkshire puddings with sweet and savoury flavours. Click here to book.

THIRD BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
- We will be 3 years old on 21 January and are having a party to celebrate. Saturday 21 January will be an open day between 10.30am and 1.30pm with demonstrations, discounts and cake. - We are thrilled to announce that Alison from Proper Maid Cakes will be joining Matthew for our Have Your Cake and Ice It course on 11 February. Alison will be demonstrating some of her award winning cakes with a twist - including her award winning liquorice cake.

2012 COURSES
- Our new courses for 2012 will be confirmed very soon and we have a packed schedule with some fantastic cooking sessions lined up. EDIBLE ART OPEN DAY
Riding Around on a Cooking Spoon - David Hockney
- Enjoy art in a whole new way this month as part of a Joint Open Day with the Dean Clough Galleries on Saturday 22 October 2011 from 12.00 noon - 3.00pm. Enjoy the demonstrations and tastings of Edible Art and the latest news on our cooking courses.
Talented new chef Jason Main will be creating intricate, mouthwatering masterpieces from sugar and chocolate and there's a tribute to David Hockney's Grimm Fairy Tale etchings which feature in the new exhibition… more art you can eat with a recreation of Dean Clough Mill made of gingerbread!
It might be Grimm Up North but at the Cooking School everything is edible! This is a free event suitable for all the family just turn up between 12.00 noon and 3.00pm.

CULTURE VULTURE VISIT
- The Cooking School had a little bird sitting in on a recent course. Mark O'Brien was undertaking 'Challenge Mark', attempting to fit as much into 28 days in West Yorkshire as possible. Of course we had to 'Challenge Mark' to get out of his self confessed "beans on toast comfort zone" and get cooking with Prashad . UPCOMING COURSES AND EVENTS
- Whisks are at the ready for The Great Yorkshire Pudding Challenge on Saturday 10 September 2011. Watch this space for details of who will be crowned 2011 Professional and Amateur champions. Tasting of the Yorkshire Puddings will be supplemented with some samples of the fantastic new Yorkshire Sausage from Lishman's Butchers - thanks guys!
- Wuthering Bites takes place at The Cooking School on 9th September 2011 and is now fully booked - Sorry! Thanks to Netty's Cakes and Lottie Shaw's Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin for donating cakes for the event and to Juliet Barker for the talk and Ann Dinsdale at The Brontë Parsonage for the artefacts on loan.

Nearly 9 million viewers saw the nail biting TV final of the top cooking series and many of them expected Yorkshire-based Sara to take the title. Sara's parents are Italian and she is passionate about her native cuisine with strong roots both in Venice and Padova. Sara's passion and authentic knowledge will be a fantastic addition to the course in September and for future Italian courses hopefully at The Cooking School.
